🎯 1 Virtual Interview, Many Life Lessons — A Fresher’s Journey Through Rejection & Growth

Turning nervous moments into lessons of growth

Have you ever faced your first virtual interview with trembling hands and hopeful eyes? In today’s digital era, virtual interviews have become the new norm — especially for freshers stepping into the professional world. In this story, I’ll walk you through my personal experience — the excitement, the anxiety, the silence after rejection, and the growth that followed. Whether you’re preparing for your own online interview or still healing from a recent setback, this journey might just give you the courage you need.

✨ Introduction: A New Chapter Begins

Hello friends,

Today, I’m excited to share the story of my first virtual interview experience. As a recent graduate from college, I was eagerly looking forward to taking my first step into the professional world. Thankfully, our college offered us placement opportunities, and we also got a chance to visit another college where reputed companies were conducting interviews.

📅 The Interview Day: Nerves and New Beginnings

I woke up early around 4:00 AM, determined to give my best. I was fully prepared and ready for this big day. Around 8:00 AM, I left my college and waited for the bus. As the bus arrived, I started feeling nervous and anxious. Thoughts like “What will happen next?” kept running through my mind.

🏫 Reaching the Venue

Once we reached the interview venue, we were warmly welcomed. They served us jal-jeera and water, which instantly made us feel relaxed. The environment was disciplined and well-managed. We were given slips to choose the company for which we wanted to appear.

Being a BCA student, I chose to go for an IT company.

⏳ Waiting for My Turn

We were sent to the waiting room, and to my surprise, I was the first candidate to be called. My name was announced, and a wave of nervousness hit me. But I calmed myself by repeating, “Everything happens for good.”

💻 The Virtual Interview Begins

When I entered the cabin, I learned that the interview would be conducted online — my very first virtual interview. One of the teachers, Ms. Shelly, motivated and encouraged me, which boosted my confidence.

I sat on the chair, and shortly, the HR joined via Google Meet. The interview started. I gave it my best, answered confidently, and teachers appreciated my responses. I honestly believed I had cleared it.

😔 The Disappointment

Days passed… but no call came. I didn’t receive any result. I felt very sad, tensed, and disappointed. I started doubting myself — “Am I even capable?”

🧘‍♀️ Healing and Moving Forward

To regain strength, I turned to meditation and self-healing. Slowly, I recovered emotionally and mentally. I didn’t give up — and soon, I received a wonderful opportunity to grow further in my career.

That experience taught me that failure is not the end — it’s redirection.
